The wellness lifestyle
Do you know what it takes for complete wellness? Do you know there are 8 dimensions to wellness, which should be fulfilled in order for you to feel balanced and complete? Wellness is the absence of disease in the body, but not only that, the overall feeling of physical, mental and emotional wellness. This will determine the overall state of wellness in the body. When these are not in balance with each other, we can feel unwell. This lesson will teach the 8 dimensions to wellness, and how to balance them with the introduction to alternate therapies.Introduction to aromatherapy
Plants are natures healers. Essential oils are powerful extracts that can evoke physiological, mental and emotional responses. These are powerful partners in creating and maintaining emotional health. This lesson is going to introduce essential oils, how they can be applied to the body, and the safety guidelines when using essential oils.Introduction to reflexology
Reflexology dates back over 5000 years, although it cannot be traced back to one such civilization. Reflexology is based on the principal that every organ in the body is reflected in certain areas of the feet, hands or ears. By stimulating these points, the flow of energy through the body, which will target illness or stress, can be increased. This lesson is going to introduce reflexology, and how it came about as an alternate treatment. It will include what can be expected from a treatment and will introduce you to the different zones and maps of reflexology. It is mind blowing to think that the whole body can be represented on the feet.Ayurvedic healing
Ayurveda is considered one of the oldest healing therapies. Originating in India over 5000 years ago, Ayurveda means the science of life, or alternately referred to as the mother of all healing. Ayurvedic therapy relies on prevention of diseases and rather wants to achieve body balancing through the mind, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs. This lesson is going to introduce what Ayuverdic healing is, and then look at the top herbs that are used in an Ayuverdic diet, and lastly took at the different Ayuverdic treatments.The basics of the body
From what we have learned in the previous 4 lessons, we need to balance the body, but in order to do that, we need a better understanding of how the body works. The body is made up of millions and trillions of cells, that all need to work in harmony with each other for proper functioning. This lesson will give the basics to the building blocks of the body and introduce the different organs and systems of the body, and how they work in harmony with each other to bring about balance.Introduction to meditation
Meditation is an ancient practice of training the mind to become fully aware in the present moment. The benefits are innumerable and we will explore what the research is revealing thus far in this regard. In this lesson, we learn about the basic tenants of meditation and how to bring the practice into our lives. It will include being guided through a simple meditative practice that we can take with us going forward in our journeys to wellness.
The basics of massage
The most relaxing part of any service is the massage, and there are so many good benefits to a regularly performed massage. Massage is regarded as one of the oldest health care services known to humans. Today, there are above 80 different types of massage treatments with emphasis on different body parts and type of treatment. In this lesson, we are going to introduce different massage movements, and different massage techniques, so that you can incorporate it into your daily routines, and what effects it has on the systems of the bodyIntroduction to fitness
Fitness has been said to be the best-kept secret when it comes to preventative medicine. In lesson 8 we explore the history of physical fitness, from the primal ages to the current fitness culture. We dive deeper into the world of fitness and wellness through exploring the physiological and mental effects and benefits of physical fitness and lastly looking at how fitness can be used as a form of alternate therapy.

The origin of aromatherapy
Essential oils are so fascinating, the fact that such a small plant can create such changes in the body and have such major physical and psychological changes. Not much is known about the history and origin of essential oils and plant extracts, but the use of plant extracts and essential oils is shown to be included in ancient times. In this lesson, we are going to look into the roots of essential oils and how they were discovered. We are also going to look at the different extraction methods, and how these oils turn from flowers and herbs into the powerful oils we can use on a daily basis
The skin system
The skin is an amazing organ. The layers of the skin, the complexity and the functions of the skin all work together to protect the body. The ageing process, sun, hormones and our diet all affect how the skin functions, and at the end will affect the appearance of the skin. In this lesson, we are going to look at the body's largest organ, and how it functions, and how we can care for it on a holistic level.
Advanced reflexology
Reflexology is applied to longitudinal and transverse zones on the foot, and is carried out using a thumb walking technique, to bring about relaxation to the body, while activating certain reflexes on the foot, in correspondence to the organs in the body. In this lesson, we are going to recap the zones of the foot, and introduce the application of a reflexology treatment to the base of the foot
Nutrition basics
This lesson we are going to dive into nutrition to ensure we are feeling our bodies with the right substances, and while not only the right foods but also the portions that we consume are very important when using nutrition guidelines to bring about a healthy body. In this lesson, we are going to dissect the plate model, so you understand exactly how much of each type of food we should be consuming. We are going to include some fun healthy recipes, and most importantly some great eating habits you can include in your daily life.
Advanced aromatherapy
Sourcing the best quality pure essential oils is a crucial component in enjoying the properties and benefits each essential oil has to offer. In our advanced aromatherapy lesson, we are going to look at the qualities an essential oil should possess, giving you the knowledge to choose the highest quality oils to apply to the body.
Understanding acupressure
Have you ever had the feeling of applying pressure to a spot and feeling the instant relief in an area. Maybe you have used the pressure point in your hand to bring about relief from a headache, of you feeling tension in the shoulders, and you apply some pressure in a few spots, to feel those few minutes of relief? How does this work in the body? In this lesson, we are going to incorporate the theory behind acupressure therapy, and the practical application, looking at the 8 most common acupressure points you can access in the body to overcome daily stressors.
Exploring mindfulness
In being mindful, we allow ourselves to become more sensitive to what is occurring in the present moment, both within ourselves and in the outside world. So, mindfulness is a practice that enables us to expand our conscious awareness and general presence. In this lesson we learn about the attitudinal foundations said to underpin mindfulness. We also explore and get to experience the key to simply observing what our minds are up to from moment to moment, letting go of thoughts before we get caught up in them, by practicing focusing on the power of our breath.
Crystal healing
Have you ever picked up a beautiful stone, looked at the colours, the patterns or the shape? Did something stand out to you from that stone? It might possibly one of the crystals we are going to discuss in this lesson, and you might have felt attracted to the power that it brought without even realising it. Crystals are believed to promote the flow of energy through the body, helping to rid the body of negative energy, and promoting physical and emotional wellbeing. In this lesson, we are going to look at the different crystals, and how we can use them in our daily practice

The lymphatic system
Known as the second circulatory system of the body, the lymphatic system is a vital factor to the body. The main function of the lymphatic system is to protect the body from disease by destroying disease causing micro-organisms and drain the tissues of excess fluids, which result in swelling. In this lesson, we are going to look at how the circulatory system and the lymphatic system link. We are going to look at the factors that cause lymph to stagnate in the body, and methods in which we can keep this vital substance flowing in the body, helping to remove toxins from the body.
Energy healing
There are 7 chakras in the body, which are known as the energy centres, and keep the body balanced, and regulate the body’s emotions. These chakras begin in the base of the spine and extend all the way to the crown of the head. If these chakras become unbalanced, it leads to a range of emotional and physical changes in the body. During this lesson, we are going to identify each of the chakras, and the factors that cause them to become unbalanced. We will identify methods in which we can balance them, that include a range of alternate therapies like yoga, meditation, diets, and even using crystals.
Introduction to yoga
There are many different practices of yoga out there, from peaceful Hatha to high-intensity power yoga. Regardless of the type, they all take your workout to a level of mind-body connection. The main goal of yoga is to help you relax. The best part is while you are doing yoga, you are gaining strength and flexibility too. Participating in a yoga session has proven to boost your mood. In this lesson, we are going to introduce yoga as an exercise and balancing therapy
Hydrotherapy
Water- life’s most precious element, and the most common substance found on earth. Water is an essential nutrient for life. Man alone can live without food, but he cannot live without water. Water therapy stems thousands of years, and dates back to ancient times, having so many benefits to the body and the skin. In this lesson, we are going to look at the forms of hydrotherapy, and including water therapy into your alternate healing.
Myth busting and mind body connection
There is so much talk about mindfulness and meditation but what is true and what is not? In this lesson we bust some of the most common myths on the subject. We also get to explore the connection of the mind and body; how our thoughts, emotions and physical health are connected and where mindfulness comes in. We will identify what are considered the causes of happiness and how we achieve our own as we continue to journey towards optimum health.
Shiatsu
As we have learned throughout this course, the body is divided into meridians and energy centers that all need balancing to achieve internal wellness. In this lesson, we are going to build upon the knowledge we have learned with regards to acupressure, which is a Chinese method of healing, and introduce the two forms of shiatsu, which is based on Chinese healing, but originates in Japan. We are also going to dive deeper into emotional freedom technique tapping, where you are going to learn how to perform this method of balancing on yourself.
Body conditions
This lesson is going to introduce 3 of the most common conditions that a person, in particular females could suffer. We will start with the breakdown of cellulite, stretch marks, and varicose veins. We will look at how these conditions are formed, how we can prevent them, and if you are experiencing any of these conditions, how we can treat them.
Essential oils on the systems of the body
If the systems do not work in harmony with each other, even if one system is out of balance, the entire body will be out of balance and can result in ill health. When you take a holistic approach to wellness, you are aiming to achieve balance and proper functioning in all the systems of the body. Using essential oils to overcome disorders in the body can have to most profound effects. In this lesson, we look at how essential oils can overcome some of the most common conditions that can be experienced by the body systems.

Introduction to Pilates
Pilates has many benefits for the mind, body, and soul. In this lesson, we discover the history of Pilates and how it developed over time. We have a brief look at how Pilates was influenced and by who. We go on to gain the skills and knowledge to perform a basic Pilates warm-up sequence which we can use at any time.Advanced reflexology
Reflexology does not only need to be done on the foot but is also found on the hands and the ears. In this lesson, we are going to continue building on the reflex points on the top and sides of the feet, and then we are going to move on, and demonstrate a reflexology treatment on the hand. Not only are there reflex points in the ear, but there are also emotional balancing points, and this lesson is going to indicate where the 10 are, and how to activate them.
Self-care
Most of us these days don’t have time for “me”. Me time is today's age is extremely important. This doesn’t mean you need to recluse away for weeks or months at a retreat. Although that may sound heavenly, making small changes during the day, the week and the month can have drastic results. Failing to include self-care daily can leave you feeling frenzied, run-down, and feeling overwhelmed at the smallest tasks in life. In this lesson, we are going to look at the different self-care techniques that can be included in a daily routine to help spend more time on you.
Everyday mindfulness
As you begin to close off your journey into all that constitutes holistic health through alternate therapies, we take some time in this lesson to delve into what may be considered the ultimate causes for health and how being in the flow supports our well-being. We will explore 13 ways to bring mindfulness into our daily lives in simple and effective ways.
Basics of skin care
How do you feel about your skin? Do you care for it perfectly, or is it something that is not really a priority for you? Maybe there are certain things like pigmentation or fine lines and wrinkles that get to you, but you have no idea how to care for the skin properly or what to look out for when selecting products for your skin to help you combat these concerns. In this lesson, we are going to look into the basics of a skin care routine, and how to care for the skin correctly, allowing you to select the best products for your skin type.
Healthy diet healthy body
Eating is the basics to survival for the human body. But when last did you slow down, ditch the distractions and focus on what you were eating, how you are eating it, why you are eating it, and what it is doing for the body? In this lesson, we are going to look into why it is so important for us to chew, taste, savour and enjoy our means, and the effect it has on the mind and on the body.
Natural skin care
This lesson will make use of natural ingredients found in your everyday lives that can be incorporated into your skin care routines. It will include fun DIY recipes that will allow you to make your own skin care products at home.
Stress management
Stress is one of the biggest killers in the world. Of course, people don’t die from stress, but stress leads to a host of different ailments and diseases in the body, from clogging the arteries to contributing to heart attacks. Stress is a natural response to a situation that occurs, and us as humans over the years have evolved to be able to cope with day to day pressures, but in essence, we should try out best to minimise it as much as possible. In this lesson, we are going to look into what stress does to the body, and the management tools we can use to minimise it.
