  1. Portrait photography

With the fundamentals mastered it is time to look to different genres of photography, starting with the most popular: portrait photography. Learn how to bring out the character of your portraits and the tools you will need.

  2. Landscape Photography

Often landscape photography is where most photographers start. However, achieving pin sharp landscape photos is very challenging. Here you will learn about advanced techniques to take stunning landscapes.

  3. Colour

In any visual medium colour has meaning. Explore colour meaning, theory and psychology as it relates to photography and how you can add more depth to your photography through your colour choices.

  4. Black and white photography

Black and white is timeless, and in removing colour we are removing a part of the visual narrative. This leaves us to focus on the essentials of a good photograph. Black and white is not simply turning a colour photo to black and white, it is a completely different way of taking photos.

  5. Lowlight and night-time photography

Photography becomes difficult without much light. However you can anticipate the settings you need in different low light situations. You can also have lots of fun with light painting and take your photography to the stars. Find out all in this lesson.

  6. Macro photography

The world is full of tiny details, most which we pass by. Macro photography forces you to slow down and look and the smallest things that make up our world. But it is far from straightforward, lots of tools and techniques are needed. All of which you will discover in this lesson.

  7. Food photography

A good photograph of food will make you hungry. Making food look good is as important as how it tastes, and is especially true for photographers. Learn how to decorate your plates professionally in this lesson.

  8. Wildlife Photography

The appeal of photographing animals and the natural world is a huge reason many photographers pick up a camera. The natural world is changing more rapidly than ever, and it is more important then ever for photographers to play their part and capture the world and inspire change before it is too late.

module 3

Advanced in Photography

  1. Histograms

Our cameras LCD screen only serves as a guide to let us know our exposure is correct, but is far from accurate. Histograms will give you all the information you need, once you know how to read them.

  2. Metering

Light changes depending on the weather, time of day, location and so many other factors. Reading light in one way is restrictive and leads to incorrect exposures. Metering modes simply change how to read light. Find out which mode suits your lighting needs.

  3. Filters

There are many accessories we can use to help our photography but filters are among the most useful, and are a lot of fun to use. Which ones should you consider? Explore them in this lesson.

  4. HDR Photography

High Dynamic range is more then just a particular 'look' to a photo, it is also a useful technique to help overcome difficult exposure conditions. Put together subtle but effective HDR photos after completing this lesson.

  5. Flash Photography Part 1

It is hard to understate how much mastering flash photography opens up new creative and commercial opportunities to a photographer. It is time to take control of light.

  6. Flash Photography Part 2

In a continuation of flash photography, find out how you can use it effectively to balance light and shadow in your photos.

  7. Studio Photography Part 1

Expanding on your new found flash photography skills, it is time to take a step into the studio, where as a photographer you have all the control and possibilities to create professional photos and even achieve commercial success.

  8. Studio Photography Part 2

Still in the studio, learn classic lighting set ups and how to shape light with modifiers.

module 4

Proficient in Photography

+

  1. Basic Editing

By now you will have covered just about everything you need to know about taking a photo, but that is only half the work! Just like mastering the darkroom, digital editing is an essential skill every photographer must learn. It will allow you to truly achieve your creative vision.

  2. Local adjustments
  3. Landscape editing

How to best edit your landscape photos to create drama and immersive scenes.

  4. Portrait editing

Bring out the best in your subjects with natural editing.

  5. Black and white editing

Add tone, contrast and details to black and white photos. Utilise effects to achieve a film look.

  6. HDR and Panoramics

Put your exposures together to create your HDR photo and then edit it to perfection. Have fun with panoramic and open up more options for your photography.

  7. Nightsky editing

The sky we see at night does not reproduce colour well, or reveal the level of details straight out of the camera. Editing is needed to bring out the stars, so to speak!

  8. Creating a Portfolio

Finally, after all this hard work it is time to think about your next steps and put everything together. You will have a new way of looking at your photos and have the ability to only show your best and take your next steps into the wider world of photography.
